03 / Why a Qurl
Change where it goes.Keep the painting.
A QR code made of your web address is frozen the moment it is printed. Ours encodes a short link instead, and the short link is the thing you edit.
So the mural, the menu, the tattoo flash, the poster on the wall: paint them once. The menu changes, the campaign ends, the season turns, and the same picture keeps working, because you changed the link behind it, not the ink in front of it.
That is also why we cannot paint a raw URL as well as a short link. A short link is always a small, clean code. Your URL usually is not.
04 / Questions
Before you print.
- Will it actually scan?
- Yes. Every painting is decoded by two unrelated QR engines at full size, half size, quarter size and on a blurred, JPEG-compressed copy before it is shown. A painting that fails any of those never reaches you. Print at 3 cm or larger and leave the pale border in place.
- Can I change where it goes after printing?
- That is the point. The code encodes a Qurl short link, not your destination. Edit the destination in the dashboard and every scan of the printed painting follows, with no reprint.
- Can I use it commercially?
- Yes. You own the paintings you generate and can print, sell and publish them. On the free plan they carry a small mark in the corner outside the code.
- What size should I print?
- Downloads are 1536 pixels square, which is 13 cm at 300 dpi. Larger prints work, because a QR code is read by proportion, not resolution, but keep it above 3 cm and never crop the border.
- Can it include my logo or a photo of someone?
- Not in this version. Prompts naming a person, a brand or a character are declined, and faces hide a code badly anyway. Logos inside the art are on the roadmap.
